independent from media conglomerates, headquartered in the municipality of Serra. The general objective

context of structural capital crisis (MÉSZÁROS, 2002); Analyze the sustainability of this
initiative; Discuss the ethos enunciated by Tempo Novo; Understanding territorial impacts
mobilized by their journalistic praxis. The methodological path of the case study was defined
(YIN, 2005; DUARTE, 2005), through the triangulation of evidence collection methods
in two steps. The first phase of the investigation has an exploratory-descriptive character with
documentary research procedures and field investigations to compose the profile
of the New Time. In the next stage, semi-structured interviews are carried out with the
journalists and directors of the initiative, with the aim of identifying aspects about the work
carried out in the communication vehicle. The analysis allowed identifying that the vehicle exerts the
function of social actor and cultural heritage of the municipality.
