Summary: This research analyzed a dataset of geolocalized images from the city of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) published on the online social network Twitter, from September 19 to September 27, 2017. In the first chapter, we review some theories about space and territory, so we can analyze how these images reveal an experience of Rio de Janeiro's territory on the internet. In the second chapter, there is also a brief literature review about the production and propagation of images in the context of social networking sites and Cyberculture. The third chapter is an analysis of the images based on the concept of an atlas proposed by
Didi-Huberman (2018). We divide the images in two groups: one containing all the 162,350 images collected and other with only the 666 images embedded with geocode information. We analyze the first group through chromatic visualizations and the statistical information of the images. In the second group, we perform a content analysis using the exhaustive categorization method as proposed by Gillian Rose (2016). The key findings are that photographs are the type of image with the greatest presence in the
dataset, and that the human figure is the main theme portrayed in the images.
